Models & Release Timing
Apple is set to launch four models in the iPhone 17 lineup: iPhone 17 (base), iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, likely at a September 9, 2025 keynote
Design Innovations
The Pro models are rumored to feature a striking redesign: a wide, horizontal camera “bar” replacing the traditional square bump, framed in semi-aluminum and semi-glass for durability and wireless charging support. They may also sport a repositioned Apple logo and lighter titanium or aluminum construction. The iPhone 17 Air, in contrast, promises an ultra-thin, lightweight design around 5.5 mm thick.
While the mockups are unofficial, the color options for each model are believed to be accurate, as they align with repeated leaks and marketing materials spotted in production chains.
Display & Software Upgrades
All four models are expected to feature high-refresh-rate ProMotion (120 Hz) displays, possibly with always-on technology enabled through LTPO OLED panels. They will ship with iOS 26, which introduces a captivating Liquid Glass UI, complete with translucent, motion-responsive elements and redesigned apps
Camera Enhancements
Rumors suggest major camera advances in the Pro models:
-
A 48 MP telephoto lens with up to 8× optical zoom using a movable “tetraprism” mechanism
-
A 24 MP front-facing camera
These cameras aim to elevate photography and video, with creative controls via an updated Pro Camera app
Performance & Hardware
Expect the new A19 Pro chipset, paired with up to 12 GB of RAM for smooth performance and battery efficiency. There are also whispers of Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 and modem chips in the Air model for enhanced connectivity
Color Options & Customization
Each model will have unique shades to distinguish the lineup:
- iPhone 17 (base): Black, White, Steel Gray, Green, Purple, Light Blue
- iPhone 17 Air: Black, White (cooler), Light Blue, Light Gold
- Pro & Pro Max: Black, White, Gray (Natural Titanium), Dark Blue, and a bold fluorescent Orange
